HDMI Ports

Damaged HDMI ports are one of the most common console repairs we carry out. This often happens when a console is moved or carried with the HDMI cable still plugged in, which can bend or break the delicate internal pins.

At TechGuy Wadebridge, we regularly replace HDMI ports on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 consoles. Each port is precisely removed and replaced using professional soldering equipment to ensure a strong, reliable connection. Once repaired, your console will output video and audio just like new, ready to get you back in the game.

In some cases, an HDMI port is so badly damaged that the pads it connects to on the motherboard have been torn away. When this happens, we carry out a more advanced repair (similar to the Nintendo Switch port repair) by running 0.1mm copper jumper wires to reconnect the missing signal paths.

In the example shown, the damage was extensive enough that we had to run nine individual jumpers just to get the console working again. These precision board-level repairs take time and care, but they allow us to bring heavily damaged consoles back to full functionality rather than replacing the entire board.

Console Servicing

Every HDMI port repair at TechGuy Wadebridge includes a full console service to keep your system running at its best. During the repair, we replace old thermal paste or liquid metal, fit new thermal pads if needed, and thoroughly clean out the heatsink and internal fans to ensure proper airflow and cooling.

We also offer this console servicing as a standalone option. If your console sounds like a jet engine, overheats, or just isn’t running as smoothly as it should, a professional clean and thermal refresh can make a huge difference in performance and longevity.
