Soldering Samsung charging port repair on workbench at TechGuy Wadebridge

Samsung A - Range Port

For Samsung A Series phones, we aim to solder a new charging port directly onto the original daughterboard whenever possible. This approach saves both time and cost. Most repairs can be completed within a few hours instead of waiting for a replacement board to arrive. It’s a reliable and efficient method that allows customers to get their phone back the same day, fully tested and charging like new again.

Samsung S - Range Port

We also offer charging port repairs for high-end Samsung S Series models where possible. These ports feature two layers of connection pins, making the job more complex and delicate, but our experience and equipment allow us to complete the repair to a professional standard when replacement parts are available.

Samsung Top FPC Repair

This repair involved replacing the top FPC,  the fragile connector that links the daughterboard to the main board in many Samsung phones. It’s a common issue, especially on older Samsung A Range models, where wear or stress can cause the connector to break. In the first image, you can see that the entire bottom of the FPC had snapped off, leaving no visible gold pins to make contact.

The connector itself has 78 tiny pins, each of which must line up perfectly for the device to charge, recognise USB connections, and function correctly. By carefully fitting and soldering a new FPC, we restored full connectivity between the boards and brought the phone back to full working order.
